NEW: STARBASE STEM summer camps engage student learners
Throughout the summer, roughly 450 Portsmouth students in grades 4-12 will be taking part in 11 different STARBASE STEM camps with hands-on experiences that reinforce STEM curriculum. These camps include computer coding, oyster restoration, drones, environmental stewardship and robotic programming. The camps will take place on varying weeks through Thursday, Aug. 1. Manor High School’s Dr. Timothy Johnson named PPS 2024 Outstanding Principal of the Year; Cradock Middle School’s Dr. Kisha Coleman-Pender named Assistant Principal of the Year
At the division’s annual Leadership Institute this week, Manor High School’s Dr. Timothy Johnson was named the PPS 2024 Outstanding Principal of the Year. In addition, Dr. Kisha Coleman-Pender, assistant principal at Cradock Middle School, was named the division’s 2024 Assistant Principal of the Year. Both recipients were presented their awards as part of Superintendent Dr. Elie Bracy, III’s closing remarks to all PPS administrators.
PPS earns 10 national communications honors
The Portsmouth Public Schools Department of Communications has brought home 10 awards from the National Schools Public Relations Association (NSPRA) honoring an array of their projects from the past school year. This doubles the amount of awards the department earned in 2023, and it comes in a year where NSPRA reported having a record number of entries submitted to its award programs.
